Generate listing using NOTEPAD

Post by rickpowelldot » Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:04 pm

Can you add one more nice feature like allowing it to pull up notepad from the directory in Windows File Exployer.
I actually have a nice notepad replacement called Notepad++ that I use instead of the built-in version.

Generate listing using
csv - dirs.dlc
cvs - files.dlc
Html.dlc
text.dlc
Noetpad.exe listing

not sure what should actually happen after you would click on the "Notepad.exe listing" menu item?

It would pull up NOTEPAD with the directory list you needed instead of having to save it and then go to the file and pull it up. It saves many steps.

well, ok, but if you check the "Open listing file after creation" option on the "Save as" dialog then it automatically displays the listing in the default text editing application.

What if the user does not want to save the file only cut and paste it somewhere else. It makes another step. Why don,t you pull it up in notepad and let the user save it if really needed? Again it is only making another step and if if have a lot to cut and paste it is annoying.

ok, so maybe instead of opening notepad it would be better to have it copied into the clipboard so you would be able to paste it wherever you like?

NOtepad or any other editor woud work for me because I wanted to use it anyway. Here is where I am coming from:

This worked great in XP but does not work in Windows 7. Now that I found your program I am hooked on it but it is missing this tiny one feature.

the behavior described on the page above can be achieved with the "Open listing file after creation" option checked as the bat file mentioned there saves the output to an external file before opening it in the notepad.
